Rivals is a drama series set in 1980s England, centered around the competitive and scandal-filled world of television. The story begins when Corinium Television hires a well-known TV presenter to launch his own show, but what starts as a professional opportunity quickly becomes much bigger than that.
This is not a series that grabs you immediately in the first five minutes. The first few episodes are a little slow while the characters, relationships, and power dynamics are introduced. But once you understand who everyone is and how messy the connections are, Rivals becomes very easy to keep watching.
There is drama between characters, romantic tension, affairs, seduction, business rivalries, and plenty of power plays. It has a little bit of everything, which is exactly why the show becomes so addictive once you get into it.
Why I Recommend It
I recommend Rivals if you like dramas that are messy, seductive, and full of complicated relationships. I was not completely sold at the beginning, but once the story found its rhythm, I understood why people were talking about it.
It is the kind of show where the drama builds slowly, but once you are invested in the characters, you want to know what happens next.
