After more than five years away from reality television, former Vanderpump Rules star Stassi Schroeder returns with her own series, House of Stassi.
The reality show follows Stassi as she navigates marriage, motherhood, family conflicts, friendships, and her attempt to reclaim her place in pop culture. But if you think she plans to protect her image or keep her personal problems off-camera, you clearly don’t remember what made Stassi such a memorable reality star.
As an executive producer, Stassi frequently breaks the fourth wall. Viewers hear producers asking questions, watch her react to the direction of the show, and see conversations about what should—or should not—be included. It often feels like a reality show within a reality show.
The series also exposes serious tension in her marriage to Beau Clark, particularly over his desire to return to work and Stassi’s expectation that he remain responsible for the household, cooking, and caring for their two children.
New viewers do not need to know the complete Vanderpump Rules history. Throughout the season, Stassi provides enough background to explain her past, her public downfall, and how she reached this point in her life.
House of Stassi is streaming on Hulu. Unfortunately, Spanish subtitles and Spanish dubbing are not currently available.
Why I Recommend It
I have to admit—I enjoyed this much more than I expected.
Stassi is still completely focused on herself and expects almost everything to revolve around what she wants. Some of her opinions and decisions are so absurd that you may find yourself talking back to the television. However, that is also what makes her such an effective reality star.
She understands how to create drama, expose uncomfortable relationship problems, and reveal even the most private family conflicts if it makes the show more compelling. The frequent fourth-wall breaks also make House of Stassi feel different from more polished or overly produced reality shows.
If you enjoy messy family dynamics, questionable decisions, marital drama, and reality stars who are willing to expose their own lives for entertainment, this one is worth watching.
