Why I Recommend It
The Odyssey is not only one of the best movies of 2026—it is the kind of film that could go down in cinematic history as one of the greatest literary adaptations ever made.
The way Christopher Nolan captures the magnitude of Homer’s epic and brings it to the big screen is simply extraordinary. Even though I read the original work more than 30 years ago, the movie immediately brought back memories of its most important events, from the aftermath of the Trojan War to the Cyclops and the battle against the giants.
Matt Damon and Tom Holland deliver the two standout performances for me. Both are spectacular, but Damon’s physical transformation and complete commitment to the role of Odysseus are especially impressive.
There is so much detail in every scene that one viewing is simply not enough. I already know I will watch it at least two more times. This is a true cinematic spectacle and an absolute must-watch—preferably on the biggest screen possible.
