Description (No Spoilers)
*The Five Star Weekend* is a light, female-centered drama starring Jennifer Garner as Hollis Shaw, a successful food influencer and bestselling cookbook author whose life changes after the sudden death of her husband.
While navigating her grief, Hollis organizes a luxurious weekend at her Nantucket home with four women who represent different stages of her life. Three are longtime friends, while the fourth is a loyal social media follower who offered her unexpected support during the most difficult period of her life.
As the weekend unfolds, secrets come to light and unresolved tensions surface. However, the series focuses less on shocking revelations and more on Hollis’ individual relationships with each woman, as well as her complicated relationship with her daughter. With a beautiful coastal setting and an excellent ensemble cast that includes Jennifer Garner, Regina Hall, Chloë Sevigny, Gemma Chan, and D’Arcy Carden, it is an easy and entertaining drama to binge.
Why I Recommend It
If you are looking for a light, “pink drama” to enjoy during a relaxing afternoon, I recommend *The Five Star Weekend*. The story includes grief, friendship, family conflicts, and a few secrets, but nothing becomes overly dark or emotionally exhausting.
I especially enjoyed watching Hollis’ relationship develop with each of the women and seeing how every friendship represented a different chapter of her life. The revelations are not necessarily groundbreaking, but the beautiful Nantucket setting, the first-class cast, and the emotional dynamics make the series entertaining and very easy to watch.
* A light and visually beautiful drama about friendship, grief, and starting over.
* An excellent ensemble cast led by Jennifer Garner, with eight easy-to-binge episodes.
