August is closing out the summer with a huge lineup — beloved series returning for new seasons, a few big finales, a new DC series, and some documentaries that are going to spark a lot of conversation. This might be the strongest month of the summer.
Here are the shows I’m personally planning to watch or looking forward to this month. As new episodes premiere, some of these titles may later be added to the My Mood Watch catalog with full reviews and recommendations.

Ted Lasso – New Season (Apple TV+)
New SeasonTed Lasso is back. One of the most beloved comedies of the last few years returns for another season of heart, humor, and “believe.” This is the comfort-watch event of the summer.
Let’s Marry Harry (Netflix)
New ShowA new Netflix series that sounds like it’s bringing plenty of romance and drama to the table. Adding it to the watchlist for a lighter, fun watch.
The Shards – New Season (FX / Hulu)
New SeasonFX’s stylish, unsettling drama returns for a new season. If the first run was any indication, expect more of that sharp, disquieting storytelling FX does so well.
Big Chicken: A Fast Food Conspiracy (Netflix)
DocumentaryA new Netflix documentary digging into the fast food industry and the secrets behind it. Expect this one to change how you look at your next drive-thru order.
My Life with the Walter Boys – Season 3 (Netflix)
New Season 3The teen drama that took Netflix by storm returns for a third season. More heart, more drama, and more of the Walter family chaos fans have been waiting for.
The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip: Roaring 20th (Bravo / next day Peacock)
New SeasonA milestone edition of the Ultimate Girls Trip franchise brings together Housewives from across the country for a themed trip that’s guaranteed to deliver maximum drama.
Reacher – Season 4 (Prime Video)
New Season 4Reacher is back for another season of no-nonsense action and one-liners. This is one of Prime Video’s most consistently satisfying action series, and season 4 looks ready to deliver again.
My Brilliant Career – New Season (Netflix)
New SeasonNetflix continues this drama with a new season following its lead through career and personal life twists and turns. A solid pick for fans of grounded, character-driven storytelling.
Lanterns (HBO)
New Series – DC StudiosDC Studios brings the Green Lantern universe to HBO with this new series. A big one for comic fans, and a strong test of how DC’s new TV strategy plays out on the small screen.
Freefall: A Reckoning for Boeing (Netflix)
DocumentaryA new Netflix documentary examining the safety scandals and corporate decisions behind Boeing’s recent crises. Timely, serious, and the kind of documentary that’s hard to shake once it’s over.
Outer Banks – Final Season 5 (Netflix)
Final SeasonThe Pogues ride out for their final season. Years of treasure hunts, near-misses, and OBX chaos all come to a close. A must for anyone who’s followed this crew since season one.
Beauty In Black – Season 3 (Netflix)
New Season 3Tyler Perry’s hit drama returns for a third season of secrets, power, and revenge. If the first two seasons were any indication, expect the tension to only ratchet up from here.
Dark Matter – Season 2 (Apple TV+)
New Season 2Apple TV+’s mind-bending sci-fi thriller returns for a second season. Season one left things wide open across multiple realities, so this one is high on my must-watch list to close out the summer.
